Police arrests driver for attempting self-immolation infront of Ola office

Coimbatore: Tense moments prevailed in front of Ola office at RS Puram here on Wednesday as the police thwarted a self-immolation attempt by a driver who works for Ola.


Coimbatore: Tense moments prevailed in front of Ola office at RS Puram here on Wednesday as the police thwarted a self-immolation attempt by a driver who works for Ola. 

Prasad, a driver working for Ola released a video in his social media page informing of his suicidal plan in front of Ola office. Citing non payment of dues and commissions by the cab aggregator, Prasad apprised that the company has pushed him to take the extreme step.



Seeing his video, the public alerted the police who thwarted the self-immolation attempt by the driver.

"Police have saved me today. But they will be helpless when a number of drivers like me commit suicide in the future. The Tamil Nadu government should take immediate action to help us receive our pending commission and bonus", said Prasad.

It may be recalled that several petitions and agitations were held by Ola drivers alleging non payment of their commissions. Petitions were also filed to the District Collector and RTO seeking action against the cab aggregator.
