Two-spotted deer fell into a well at Sirumugai



Two-spotted deer that fell into an irrigation well at Pethikotai, Sirumugai was rescued this morning by the Fire Service Personnel. But unfortunately one of the deer was reported dead.



Early this morning, Muthusamy, an Agriculturalist from Odhimalai, Sirumugai  spotted two deers inside his 100 feet irrigation well. He immediately escalated the issue to the forest officials. The forest officials along with the Fire Service Department rescued the two deers. Out of which, one was declared dead, the officials let go the other deer inside the Sirumugai forest range.



The failure of the Northeast monsoons has led to a huge scarcity of water and fodder for the wild animals at all forest range of the Western Ghats. Wild animals entering the villages and residential colonies next to the forests in search of water and fodder has become a common phenomenon accompanied by such unforeseen deaths at times.
