Tamilnadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) and Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) jointly organised the Chief Minister's Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme and 300MW Grid connected Solar Rooftop Systems Implementation Plan at the Codissia Hall, today.
Dr. Vijayakarthikeyan, Commissioner CCMC and Dr. Jagmohan Singh Raju, Additional Cheif Secretary, Chairman and Managing Director TEDA were the Chief Guests for the event.
Apart from Commercial establishments, the TEDA and the CCMC will target houses to set up rooftop solar projects in the city and the suburbs. As per the discussions, the project aims at identifying 10,000 houses in the first phase, who will receive a solar rooftop installation of 1 KW.
The Tamilnadu government will be providing 20,000 subsidy on the cost for setting up solar rooftops and an additional subsidy of 30% would be sanctioned by the Central Government. The first phase of the project would be targeting 300 homes on first come first basis.
A cost of approximately Rs. 14,500/- could be saved from the annual electricity bill by setting up this solar rooftops at a cost Rs. 75,000 as proposed by the Central government and a subsidy of 30% could be availed as well.
Those who would like to install the solar rooftops, the TEDA will organise the needful through recognised solar roof top establishments who have tied-up with TEDA for executing the same. Interested people can register their interests and can find more details about www.teda.in/cis.
