'We support Jallikattu' ,'Jallikattu is our pride' and 'Let's unite for Jallikattu' were the slogans proposed by the students of Sankara Educational Institute at their signature campaign organized today at their college premise.

To safeguard the rights of indigenous native cattle breeds and Jallikattu, the traditional sport of Tamil Nadu displaying bravery and compassion towards cattle were the key focus of the campaign.

Mrs.Sandhya Ramchandran Joint Secretary and Ms.Nithya Ramchandran, Deputy Joint Secretary inaugurated the campaign by signing and affirming their support for conduct of Jallikattu.
Ms.Nithya Ramachandran, shared with SimpliCity that 'Jallikattu is an age-old traditional sport of Tamil Nadu.Just because a few so-called animal activists are pointing baseless allegations against the sport, we cannot let down our tradition. After breeding with love and compassion through the year, no way the breeders could hurt it or leave it get hurted. The bulls have the stamina to withstand the sport. Withdrawal of Jallikattu will lead to extinction of these native bulls. Hence we are at Sankara Institute stand together to register our over-whelming support for conduct of Jallikattu'.
Seconding her, Mrs Sandhya Ramachandran, stated that 'We are already on the verge on losing Tamil language and our culture due to the influence of western culture. Banning such traditional sports, which is our identity is highly condemnable. Such bans will lead to extinction of these native breeds forever. Witnessing our tradition and heritage getting killed, is the most cruel thing and this is the reason we have arranged this signature campaign to show our uncompromisable support to Jallikattu.
Students, professors from the institute signed the banners imprinted with the slogans 'We support Jallikattu' ,'Jallikattu is our pride' and 'Let's unite for Jallikattu'.
Dr H.Balakrishnan, Principal of Sankara Arts and Science college, Dr.Priyesh.C, Principal and Director of Sankara Polytechnic college and all the faculty members were present during the campaign. Prof. K.Thirugnana Sambanthan coordinated this event.
