A hundi kept at maakaliamman temple in Sevanthampalayam area of Tirupur district was broken last night and jewellery and cash were looted.
In this situation, the public who went to the temple this morning were shocked to find that the lock of the temple was broken and the items were scattered in the room.
Following this, they informed the Nallur police station.
Acting on this information, police rushed to the spot and inspected the spot and conducted an investigation.
At that time, it was found that 12 sovereigns of jewellery and items from the temple office had been stolen from the temple office.
Subsequently, when the CCTV cameras were examined nearby, it was found that a person from the north, who was residing in Jeeva Nagar in the same area, was involved in the robbery.
Following this, the police immediately arrested the man from the north and took him to the Nallur police station for questioning.
