Coimbatore: Social audit of the public distribution system and ration shops are to be taken up during the Gram Sabha meetings to be held on August 15, marking Independence Day in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: Social audit of the public distribution system and ration shops are to be taken up during the Gram Sabha meetings to be held on August 15, marking Independence Day in Coimbatore.

All the records maintained at ration shops will be open for people to scrutinise them. Clarifications on the allocation of essential commodities to particular ration shops, the details of the quantity of goods given to each family card, the number of family cards, the number of employees sanctioned for the ration shops and other details can be viewed.

In a press release, the District Collector K Rajamani has invited the public to resolve their grievances during the meetings and sought their co-operation for the event.
