Ration Cards applications to go online from this Diwali

The Government of Tamil Nadu may have missed the target of providing ration cards to applicants within the stipulated 60 days time of receiving an application. However, there is good news coming from the Government. From Diwali this year, the Government has plans of digitizing this process of applying for a ration card. This means an applicant can log on to the official website www.tnpds.com fill in the application form, submit the necessary documents and wait for their application to be processed. The status of the ration card can also be tracked online.

This process also allows the applicant to enter details of family head and photo along with the details of the  members of the family. The documents related to the family members can also be updated on this website. After choosing the type of ration card, details of gas cylinder should be updated. After the process is  successfully completed a unique number will be generated and this number will be sent to the applicant's mobile number.

The status of the ration card can be found out using the number.
