CCMC bans sale of meat in Coimbatore on Oct. 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanthi

Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap has ordered meat and poultry shops to down shutters on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Commissioner M Prathap has ordered meat and poultry shops in the city to down shutters in the city on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.

In a notification issued in this regard, CCMC Commissioner, M Prathap said, "Gandhi Jayanti will be celebrated on October 2. On that day, the Tamil Nadu Government has banned the slaughter of goats, cows and chicken and the sale of meat.

Therefore, on October 2, mutton, beef, chicken and pork shops should be closed in the areas under Coimbatore Corporation. Ukkadam, Sakthi Road, Podanur and Thudiyalur slaughter houses run by Coimbatore Corporation will also not function on that day. Also, strict action will be taken by the municipal authorities against those who violate the order."
