Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner K Balakrishnan distributed three tablet PCs each to 14 police stations in Coimbatore city.

On the orders of Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu, tabs are being provided to police stations across Tamil Nadu where the highest number of cases are being reported for e-beat patrolling and other tasks.

As a part of this, 14 police stations in Coimbatore city have been provided with three tablet PCs each.

This was presented by Police Commissioner Balakrishnan today.

Speaking to reporters after the event, he said, the tabs have now been provided to police inspectors and sub-inspectors. It also has 3 apps through which they will help track the culprits and identify the suspected criminals instantly.

The tab cannot be used for other personal purposes. Steps have been taken to ease the traffic congestion in Coimbatore city through roundabouts and u-turns. Equipment has been provided to protect traffic cops from air pollution.

On the day the schools reopen, we will issue notices in front of all schools and create awareness that if there is a problem, they should be approached. Awareness has also been created during refresher training programmes in colleges.

In Coimbatore city, there has been a 10 per cent decline in accidents compared to last year. There is a good response among the people that roundabouts have been replaced without a signal. "We have caught a gang that targeted college students and sold drugs. Steps are also being taken to keep an eye on new gangs.”
