Karunanidhi welcomes NCBC's recommendation for job reservation in privat sector

Welcoming the recommendation by National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) for 27 per cent job reservation for OBCs in private sector, DMK President M Karunanidhi today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the proposal forward.

Karunanidhi said he and his party had been pressing for such a demand for long as employment opportunities provided in the public sector under the reservation policy were very small. DMK had included the issue in its 2014 Lok Sabha polls manifesto, he recalled in a statement adding the party has adopted resolutions in this regard in many of its conferences.

Referring to the recommendation made by NCBC for the 27 per cent reservation in private sector, Karunanidhi said he welcomed the practical proposal. The BJP government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular, should accept the recommendation and take it forward, he said.
