Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi Leader Urges: Ensure Fair Procurement of Coconuts from Farmers!'

On the Uzhavar Martyrs' Day, the Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi and the Tamil Nadu Farmers Union, led by the Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi state president Chellamuthu, organised a conference in Dharapuram. During the conference, they advocated for fair remunerative prices for all agricultural produce including milk, onions, maize and other crops.

Tirupur: Under the leadership of Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi state president Chellamuthu, the Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi and the Tamil Nadu Farmers Union organised the Uzhavar Martyrs' Day conference in Dharapuram.

The farmers' protest was coordinated by the Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi and the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Union in Chandrapuram, near Dharapuram in Tirupur district.

As a mark of respect to the martyrs who laid down their lives and to make a request to the central and state governments, The Uzhavar Martyrs' Day conference was presided over by Sellamuthu, state president of Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi and presided over by district president Eswaramoorthy.

On Thursday at 5 p.m., a conference of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for farmers' demands was convened in Dharapuram.

Coconut farmers have been hit hard by the fall in coconut prices at the conference. If you give an empty bottle of liquor, it costs 10 rupees. But the hard-earned coconut is 8 rupees. Coconut should be procured in full from the farmers. Therefore, we have made that complete request at this conference.

We also highlighted throughout the conference that we should receive fair pricing for all agricultural products such as milk, onions, and maize. A solution has to be found for the Anaimalai project. To provide funding for it, a notice should be sent right away. Karnataka minister says he will not release even a single drop of water to Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M K Stalin should immediately hold talks and make arrangements to make the water available to the farmers in a timely manner. It is condemnable that the Tamil Nadu government has increased the electricity tariff for commercial establishments.

The Public Works Department (PWD) should immediately disburse the land compensation amount to those who have given land to the Nallathangal dam. This is what he said.

Uzhavar Ulaipalar Katchi president Chellamuthu, state general secretary Thirunavukkarasu, state treasurer Balasubramanian, state women's wing president Raja Reega, state secretary Easwaran, state media cell secretary K Easwaran, state women's wing secretary Sangeetha Priya, and more than 500 party functionaries attended the conference.
