Vaiko in Coimbatore: Mourns death of Erode MP Ganeshamoorthy; strongly refutes rumored reason for suicide.

Vaiko, MDMK General Secretary, at Coimbatore airport, vehemently dismissed rumors that Erode MP A. Ganeshamoorthy's suicide attempt was due to not receiving an MP seat. He recalled their 50-year-long relationship and principles.

Coimbatore: In an emotional statement at the Coimbatore airport, Vaiko, the General Secretary of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), categorically dismissed rumors suggesting that the suicide attempt of A. Ganeshamoorthy, the sitting MP of Erode, was because he was not allocated an MP seat.

"I cannot accept even a fraction of the reason rumoured for his suicide," stated Vaiko, at the Coimbatore international airport. He was on the way to erode via road to attend the last rites of the deceased MP.

Ganeshamoorthy, aged 77, passed away early Thursday following a cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Coimbatore. This tragic end followed a suicide attempt at his residence in Erode's Periyar Nagar on Sunday, March 24. The news of his demise has drawn condolences from various political quarters, amidst swirling rumors about the reasons behind his drastic action.

Vaiko, overwhelmed with grief, refuted these claims, emphasizing the deep bond and shared principles that he and Ganeshamoorthy held for over fifty years. "It is unimaginable that he chose this end over not being allocated an MP seat," Vaiko remarked, stressing that their lifelong commitment to their values and political ambitions far outweighed any individual political setbacks or disappointments.

The speculation around Ganeshamoorthy's suicide attempt has been rife, with many attributing it to political disillusionment. However, Vaiko's statement sheds light on the personal anguish and the profound sense of loss felt by those close to the late MP, while also dismissing the rumors as unfounded and hurtful.
