Tamil Nadu Government Provides Financial Aid to Children Orphaned by COVID-19

Tamil Nadu's Social Welfare Department has deposited ₹19.1 crore for 382 children who lost both parents to COVID-19 and ₹410.46 crore for 13,682 children who lost one parent, aiding their future stability.


Coimbatore:In a significant welfare initiative, the Tamil Nadu Government, through its Social Welfare Department, has allocated substantial financial aid to children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of ₹19.1 crore has been deposited into the accounts of 382 children who tragically lost both parents to the virus, providing each child with ₹5 lakh. Additionally, the government has secured ₹410.46 crore for 13,682 children who lost either their mother or father, granting each ₹3 lakh. This strategic financial support aims to offer a stable future for these vulnerable children, ensuring their well-being and educational needs are met in the wake of their profound losses.
