Snake Rescued from a Home in Singanallur, Coimbatore

In Singanallur, Coimbatore, a snake entering a home through a window was safely rescued and released. Aditya informed a snake catcher after witnessing the snake entering from his backyard.


Coimbatore: A late-night snake rescue operation unfolded in Singanallur, Coimbatore when a resident noticed a snake slithering into his home. Aditya, from Singanallur area, promptly contacted a local snake catcher after he saw a snake entering his home through a window from the backyard.

Wildlife and conservation expert, Mohan, a snake catcher affiliated with a wildlife conservation trust, responded to the distress call at Aditya’s house. Upon arrival, despite the homeowner’s uncertainty about the snake's exact hiding spot, Mohan carefully searched the house. The search initially turned up nothing, highlighting the snake’s elusive presence.

However, the turning point came when Mohan investigated under a bed in the bedroom. There, hidden inside a suitcase, lay the snake, eventually identified as a non-venomous Rat Snake. The snake was carefully extracted from the suitcase and later released back into a suitable habitat, ensuring its safety and that of the residents.

Mohan emphasized the importance of cleanliness and caution during colder weather when snakes are more likely to seek shelter in human homes. He advised residents to keep their surroundings clean and to avoid direct encounters with snakes, instead urging them to call professional snake catchers. Mohan reiterated that snakes should not be harmed, chased, or attempted to be captured by untrained individuals, stressing the importance of coexistence with wildlife.

The rescue serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by sudden weather changes like heavy rains and floods which can lead to snakes inadvertently entering residential areas. Keeping surroundings clean and being vigilant can prevent such unwanted encounters.
