The 17th edition of the Coimbatore Vizha, merging with Coimbatore Day celebrations, is set to run from November 23 to December 01, announced at the district administrative offices.

Coimbatore: The eagerly anticipated dates for the 17th edition of the Coimbatore Vizha, set to merge with this year's Coimbatore Day celebrations, have been officially announced.

The announcement was made at the Coimbatore district administrative offices by prominent local officials including Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Coimbatore City Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, and coordinators of the Coimbatore Vizha. This year, the Vizha is scheduled to start on November 23 and continue until December 1.

The Coimbatore Vizha traditionally held in the early part of the year, is planned to coincide with Coimbatore Day (November 24). The Vizha's originators outlined that the 17th edition will provide an array of events including popular double-decker bus rides starting November 15 for 15 days. The festival will also feature concerts, art street exhibitions, marathons, food festivals, sports competitions, races, and talent shows.

A debut feature in this year's lineup includes the Polo Premier League racing event along with the Wild Warriors Obstacle Race. Organizers also plan to host the inaugural Coimbatore Vizha Awards to recognize remarkable citizens contributing positively to the community.

At the event, Coimbatore City Corporation Commissioner Sivaguru Prabakaran reaffirmed the municipal administration's full support to facilitate the successful execution of the festival, while Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan indicated that the harmonious coordination between the district administration, the municipal administration, and the police department marks an early success for this annual celebration.

District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati emphasized the Vizha's appeal especially to the youth, including sessions on mental health and anti-narcotics campaigns. This year promises to be especially notable, with greater participation expected and an enhanced line-up of activities compared to previous editions.
