Siruvani Dam Water Level Rises to 38.67 Feet

The water level in Siruvani Dam has risen from 35.35 feet to 38.67 feet in a day due to consistent rainfall in the catchment areas, bringing joy to Coimbatore residents.

Coimbatore: The water level in Siruvani Dam has seen a significant rise, reaching 38.67 feet as of July 17 morning. This marks an increase of 3.32 feet from the previous day's level of 35.35 feet, recorded on the morning of July 16.

The steady increase in water level is attributed to the consistent rainfall in the dam's catchment areas. Specifically, the dam site received 9 cm of rainfall, while the foothills recorded 7 cm of precipitation.

This substantial rise in water level has brought joy to the residents of Coimbatore. It's worth noting that on June 23, the dam's water level was at 11.32 feet. In less than a month, it has risen by over 27 feet, reaching the current level of 38.67 feet.

Officials have stated that the dam might reach its full capacity of 45 feet within the next week if the current rainfall trend continues. This rapid increase in water level is a positive sign for the city's water supply in the coming months.

The Siruvani Dam, a crucial water source for Coimbatore, has been receiving good inflows due to the ongoing southwest monsoon. The consistent rainfall in the catchment areas has not only raised hopes for better water availability but also improved the overall water security for the region.

As the water level continues to rise, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure proper water management and distribution to meet the city's needs.
