Two Mobile Phone Snatchers Caught by Public Near Irugur

Two youths who snatched a mobile phone from Ramkumar at Mahatma Gandhi Road Junction near Irugur were chased and caught by alert citizens. Singanalur Police arrested the accused and recovered the stolen phone.


Coimbatore: Two mobile phone snatchers were apprehended by alert citizens near Irugur after they attempted to flee with a stolen device, police said on Thursday.

Ramkumar, a resident of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar near Irugur, was walking along Mahatma Gandhi Road Junction the day before yesterday when two youths approached him and snatched his mobile phone before attempting to escape.

Ramkumar immediately chased the suspects while alerting nearby citizens. Several members of the public joined the pursuit, forcing the fleeing youths to panic. In their haste to escape, both suspects fell to the ground, allowing the public to overpower and detain them until police arrived.

The public handed over the accused to Singanalur Police Station. During interrogation, the suspects were identified as Arulprakash (27) and Karthikeyan (28), both residents of the Singanalur area.

Police have arrested both accused and recovered the stolen mobile phone. Further investigations are underway to determine if the duo was involved in similar crimes in the area.
