Minister Sengottaiyan Slams EPS Over 'One-Man Mindset' Weakening AIADMK's Legacy

Minister Sengottaiyan criticised AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami at Coimbatore airport, stating that EPS's one-man approach is weakening the party founded by MGR and Jayalalithaa. He defended the new government's early initiatives including welfare schemes and liquor shop closures.

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Minister Sengottaiyan launched a sharp attack on AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, stating that the opposition party founded by MGR and Jayalalithaa appears to be weakening under his leadership. Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport, the minister addressed questions on the government's early performance and the political dynamics within the AIADMK.

When asked about the new government's initial measures, Sengottaiyan urged patience. "It has only been two days since the government assumed office. How can we answer every question immediately? Departments have only now been allocated, and I am just heading to Chennai," he said. Drawing a parallel, he added, "If someone suddenly asks about your household economy, you may not be able to explain everything instantly. Similarly, government administration will progress step by step."

Defending Chief Minister Vijay's welfare initiatives, the minister highlighted the positive public response to the 200 units of free electricity scheme. "The government has also been taking continuous measures on women's safety and drug prevention," Sengottaiyan said. He pointed out that 717 liquor shops located near bus stands and temples had been removed as part of policy decisions aimed at addressing public concerns over TASMAC outlets.

"No one other than Chief Minister Vijay could have achieved so much immediately after assuming office," the minister asserted, praising the government's quick action on multiple fronts.

Turning his attention to the AIADMK, Sengottaiyan criticised Edappadi K. Palaniswami's leadership style. "Looking at his current stand, it appears that the movement created by revolutionary leader MGR and revolutionary leader Amma has weakened," he said. The minister accused EPS of adopting a unilateral approach. "He is functioning with the mindset that he alone is everything. Time itself will change and prove otherwise," Sengottaiyan added.

When questioned about reports regarding ministerial positions potentially being allotted to the AIADMK in any future political arrangement, the minister remained non-committal. "We have not stated anything so far," he responded.

Sengottaiyan's comments come at a time when the AIADMK continues to face internal challenges and questions about its organizational strength. His criticism of EPS's leadership approach reflects the ongoing political tensions in Tamil Nadu as the new government settles into office.
