Tiruchirappalli–Palakkad Town Express Short-Terminated at Erode on June 5 & 7

Southern Railway announced the short termination of Train No. 16843 Tiruchirappalli–Palakkad Town Express at Erode Junction on June 5 and 7, 2026, due to track renewal works at Perundurai Railway Yard. The train will continue as an unreserved special service post-maintenance.

Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced a temporary operational change affecting passengers traveling on the Tiruchirappalli–Palakkad Town Express on two specific days in June due to essential infrastructure maintenance work.

According to an official press release from the Salem Division of Southern Railway, Train No. 16843 Tiruchirappalli Junction–Palakkad Town Express will be short-terminated at Erode Junction on June 5 and June 7, 2026. The train, which normally departs from Tiruchirappalli Junction at 1.00 p.m., will not proceed beyond Erode on these dates.

The alteration has been necessitated by track renewal works currently being undertaken at Perundurai Railway Yard, located in the Erode–Tiruppur section. Railway authorities stated that after the completion of the maintenance works, the train will continue its onward journey from Erode Junction to Palakkad Town as an unreserved special train, halting at the same stations as the regular Train No. 16843 service.

Passengers travelling on the affected dates have been advised to take note of the temporary operational changes and plan their journeys accordingly.
