Coimbatore: Karpagam University in Coimbatore celebrated India's 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm on August 15, 2026. Dr R. Vasanthakumar, Chairman of Karpagam Educational Institutions, presided over the celebrations, hoisted the national flag, and received the guard of honor from NCC cadets and sports contingents.
Vice Chancellor Dr S. Ravi delivered the Independence Day address. In his speech, he emphasized, "The hard work and sense of responsibility of Indian youth have elevated our nation's standing on the global stage, bringing pride to the country. The sacrifice of freedom fighters who laid the foundation for this must be remembered and honored forever. As a manifestation of this, youth must pledge to create an egalitarian society without discrimination."
K. Murugaiah, Chief Secretary of Karpagam Educational Institutions, Dr B.V. Pradeep, Registrar, and Dr P. Palanivelu, Controller of Examinations, were present on the occasion. During the celebrations, NCC, NSS, and sports contingents were appreciated for their outstanding contributions. Principals, professors, and students participated in large numbers at the event.
