A private school bus attendant in Coimbatore has been arrested under the POCSO Act following allegations of inappropriate conduct towards girl students. He was subsequently produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. The Karumathampatti All-Women Police Station is investigating the issue.

Following complaints of inappropriate conduct towards students, the Karumathampatti All-Women Police Station initiated an inquiry into allegations against Xavier, a school bus attendant, and subsequently registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
A private school within the Karumathampatti police limits operates buses along multiple routes to transport students, with each vehicle staffed by a driver and an attendant. Xavier was working as an attendant on one of the routes when he was allegedly involved in inappropriate conduct towards girl students.
The matter came to light after some students reportedly brought the alleged conduct to the attention of their parents. The parents subsequently approached the school management and sought action over their concerns.
Meanwhile, when the school bus arrived at a locality on Thursday morning, a group of parents, relatives and members of the public intercepted the vehicle and confronted the attendant. Neelambur police, who were alerted about the incident, reached the spot and took Xavier in for questioning.
Following this, the Karumathampatti All Women’s Police Station conducted an inquiry. Based on the preliminary findings, police registered a case against Xavier under the POCSO Act and arrested him.
He was subsequently produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
Police are continuing their investigation and are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
