Police arrested a person named Nandakumar, and produced him before the court, with police stating that he was already involved in various criminal cases.
Coimbatore: Acting on a confidential tip-off about ganja being kept for sale, Kovilpalayam police conducted a vehicle check in an area under the Kovilpalayam police station limits on August 21, 2026.
During the operation, police arrested Nandakumar (21) and seized around 21 kg of ganja allegedly kept for sale.
Police subsequently produced Nandakumar before the court and remanded him in judicial custody.

Police said the arrested person was also involved in various criminal cases.
The police have urged the public to provide information about individuals involved in such offences through the Coimbatore District Police’s “Nizhal” QR code-based safety platform, which allows people to share information confidentially without revealing their identity. Information can also be provided through the Coimbatore District Police Control Room at 94981 81212 or via WhatsApp at 77081 00100.
Police assured that the identities of those providing information would be kept completely confidential.
