Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 57.52 Feet; Thirumoorthy Dam Records 33.79 Feet

The water level in Amaravathi dam in Tiruppur district has risen to 57.52 feet due to continuous inflow. Thirumoorthy dam stands at 33.79 feet. Both dams are receiving steady inflow, bringing hope to farmers in the region.


Coimbatore: The water level status of the major reservoirs Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tiruppur district has been released as of August 22.




The Amaravathi dam, which has a total capacity of 90 feet, has been receiving continuous inflow from its catchment areas. As per today's status, the dam's water level has risen to 57.52 feet. Water Resources Department officials have informed that the dam is recording an inflow of 144 cubic feet per second.




Similarly, the Thirumoorthy dam with a total capacity of 60 feet, located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district, has currently recorded a water level of 33.79 feet. Water Resources Department officials have stated that 21 cubic feet of water is being released from this dam.




During the southwest monsoon season, both dams are continuously receiving inflow due to rainfall in the catchment areas. This serves as encouraging news for farmers in the region, providing much-needed water resources for agricultural activities and ensuring better irrigation prospects for the upcoming season.
