2 Killed In Storm And Heavy Rain In Kashmir

Srinagar: Two people, including a minor girl, were killed after strong winds and heavy rains lashed several parts of the Kashmir valley and damaged property and standing crop.

Rain, accompanied by high-speed winds, uprooted trees, damaged residential houses and caused the death of a 15-year-old girl in Bandipore and a woman in Anantnag district this evening.

Official sources say 15-year-old Rehana was killed when a tree fell on her at Aloosa village in Bandipore district. The other woman too died after a tree fell on her in Anantnag.

Hailstorm, heavy rain, and strong winds swept the valley this evening. Other than a number of residential houses, standing crop and orchards have also suffered damages. Officials say they are assessing the losses.
