Gold rush ends life

Pandian (34) was a resident of Kovaipudhur in the city. He was involved in finding gold from sewage canals. The previous day, heavy rains lashed our city. This automatically increased the level of water in sewage canals in our city. However, Pandian was determined to continue his work. Last evening while at work, at the Sukrawarpet canal Pandian lost his balance and drowned in this sewage canal. Unable to swim, Pandian died.

The R S Puram police was informed and a team rushed to the Sukrawarpet sewage canal. With the help of a few locals, the police retrieved Pandian’s body. A case is registered and investigation is on.
