Minister S. P. Velumani distributes orders to 151 beneficiaries for the construction of homes through slum clearance board


S. P. Velumani minister for town management, rural development and implementation of special schemes presided over the inauguration programme for the construction of houses by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board in Kulathupalayam yesterday.

The minister distributed orders for construction of concrete houses to 50 people at Kulathupalayam and 101 people at Sundakamuthur at a cost Rs.2.10 lakhs each.

When speaking on the occasion he said that, “The scheme is implemented so that the people who are who are from a poor economic background and are owners of a plot will be benefitted. The government is providing a subsidy of Rs.2.10 lakh to such people for construction of homes with a concrete roof.”

“In case if a beneficiary has already got assistance from the scheme, they can avail an additional amount of Rs. 1.60 lakhs. About Rs. 6 lakhs for a low rate of interest is provided to people who are owners of a housing plot. The aim of this project is to ensure that all citizens have a home. Applications are collected from the areas under the Coimbatore corporation. Thos who eligible for assistance under this scheme should take advantage of this scheme” he said.

Coimbatore district divisional revenue officer Madhuranthaki, Executive engineer of district slum development board Rajasekar and government officials participated in this event.
