Jagat Shah spoke about the Bullet Train Economy during his speech, “ Japan is keen to do many Bullet Trains in our country. Each of these trains will create an economy. Star Hotels, hospitals , restaurants and employment will be generated in each of the station territories. Industries, start ups and capital formation will happen. If I am right they are ready for 16 Bullet Trains. The happening will boost our economy, entrepreneurship and employment in a very big way.”
The most challenging project of his lifetime has been in Afghanistan where he worked with 20,000 carpet weavers, 6000 dry fruit farmers & 2000 handicraft artisans to not only take them out of poverty but to make them into exporters with warehouses & offices in USA, Germany & India. He strongly believes that if change can be brought about in Afghanistan, then it can be brought about in any country in the world. As a mentor on road he went around the country by self driving to 35 cities, 18 states & 9800 kilometres to meet SMEs, rural enterprises & start ups to propagate Make in India concepts & to understand their problems & submit their report to the Prime Minister's Office ( PMO ). He spoke about an exporter of goat dung. The exporter was doing a turnover of Rs.4.5 crores per annum. " Roses need water throughout the day and Walmart sells this goat dung to people who want to water just once. The goat dung would help the water to slowly percolate over hours thereby the making water available to the rose plants. This exporter gets goat dung collected by kids and pays their school fees in return. Walmart calls it Individual Social Responsibility ( ISR ) in its study. Another exporter sends rotten potatoes abroad and it is processed in order to make stuff connected with aviation fuel. It the consignment has more than 5 percent of good potatoes among the rotten ones, the importer puts a penalty ! I worked with a few rice millers who were not making enough money. We set up warehouses and two youngsters began a venture which helped them to increase the profitability. Today the venture exports stand at 450 crores in just 15 years, “stated Jagat Shah.
Jagat Shah states that warehousing is not at all expensive in any part of the world. He also stated that the US Government and the United Nations were big buyers of a number of items through the tender process. However not many were pursuing it properly.
