Awareness campaign to end bonded labour on ‘Bonded Labour System Abolition Day’ at Palladam

An awareness campaign was conducted jointly by the Labour Welfare Department and Revenue Department on the occasion of Bonded Labour System Abolition Day at Palladam.



Tiurpur: The State Labour Welfare Department in coordination with the Revenue Department has created awareness campaign in view of Bonded Labour System Abolition Day, which is being observed tomorrow.



During the event held at Palladam bus stand awareness was created by distributing pamphlets against bonded labour system.

Palladam Labour Inspector Suganthi, Revenue Inspector Anitha and Village Administrative officer Selvakumar took part.



Pamphlets were also distributed to the shop owners on how to approach labour-related issues and about the rights given to the workers, and the freedom to work.

The right to statutory minimum wages for workers is also stressed.

According to officials said steps have been taken to conduct signature campaigns in government schools and public places tomorrow and to create awareness to abolish the system of employing child labourers and bonded labourers in the district.
