The accused in the day-light robbery of a Jewelry shop has been remanded and sent to prison.


The three offenders involved in the day-light robbery case at Raja Street were remanded and sent to the Coimbatore Central prison.

On March 2nd, 2017 the day-light robbery that took place in the heart of the city, Raja Street instilled fear amongst the jewelers who stock large amount of gold and valuables in their shops.



Close to 4.5 kg of gold was reported to be looted. The men who stole the jewels also took away the hard disk used for recording the CCTV footage. However, it was later found that Riyasudeen, driver at the shop along with his friend Azharuddin and Vijayakumar were involved in the theft. Since then, the police set trap for the three offenders and also sent their photos to all police stations.

On 6th April (Thursday), all three were caught by the Police at Asanaoor near Sathyamangalam. All three were en route to Karnataka in bus. The police have recovered 4 kg worth of gold from the accused.
