Surprise Showers Cool Coimbatore!

The surprise showers brought a huge relief and smiles on people’s faces after witnessing scorching heat for the past few weeks.

A dash of extra smiles were seen on the faces of people from Thondamuthur, Vadavalli, Kaundampalayam, Thudiyalur, Periyanaickenpalayam, Mettupalayam areas as rains lashed down continuously for a couple of hours at least. However, the rains weren't uniform throughout the city.

Tomorrow as we celebrate the Tamil New Year, the street vendors in the city have expressed disappointment as the rains have affected their Chitrakani (Tamil New Year) sale of fruits and flowers.

It's a tradition of Tamils to sight the fruits Jack fruit, Banana and Mango coined as 'Mukkani' in tamil on the very morning of the Tamil New Year which in turn assures prosperity and happiness in their lives.

So, it looks like these showers indicate and welcome a great Tamil New Year ahead!
