Coimbatore District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has announced the PM YASASVI scholarship scheme for Other Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes and De-notified Tribes students. Students of classes 9-12 can apply through the National Scholarship Portal for scholarships up to Rs 1.25 lakh annually.
Coimbatore: District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has announced the central government's PM YASASVI (Top class education in schools for OBC, EBC & DNT students) scholarship scheme for students belonging to Other Backward Classes, Economically Backward Classes and De-notified Tribes categories.
For the academic year 2026-2027, eligible students from Tamil Nadu studying in classes 9 to 12 in institutions with 100% pass rate listed on the National Scholarship Portal can apply through https://scholarships.gov.in.
Scholarship Details
Under this scheme, the central government will provide financial assistance covering tuition fees and hostel fees. Students in classes 9 and 10 will receive up to Rs 75,000 per year, while students in classes 11 and 12 will receive up to Rs 1,25,000 annually. The scheme has reserved 30% of seats for girl students.
Eligibility Criteria
Students must belong to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC) or De-notified Tribes (DNT) categories. The total annual family income should not exceed Rs 2.50 lakh. Students must be enrolled in schools that have achieved 100% pass rate in the academic year 2025-26 and are listed on the National Scholarship Portal by the central government.
Renewal Applications
Students who received scholarships under this scheme in the previous financial year (2025-26) and are currently studying in classes 10 and 12 during 2026-27 must complete and submit the renewal scholarship form on the National Scholarship Portal (https://scholarships.gov.in). The last date for school principals to verify the completed online applications is 15.09.2026.
Fresh Applications
For the year 2026-27, eligible students in classes 9 and 11 who wish to apply afresh will find the application dates announced soon on the NSP website.
