Arjun Sampath leader of Hindu Makkal Katchi (Hindu People's
Party), has sought action against officials of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation
(TNSTC) and The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) for their
involvement in exchanging currency notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 for lower
denomination currency, for a commission. Cadres of Hindu Makkal Katchi, today,
presented a petition to the income tax officials in this regard.
It has been reported that ever since the Government has announced a ban on currency notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 denominations, the TNSTC and TASMAC officials, have been lending a helping hand to private companies by exchanging these banned notes for lower denomination currency.
Hindu Makkal Katchi petitioned Senthil Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Vigilance at the Income Tax office in Race Course seeking action be taken against TASMAC and TNSTC officials who indulge in such activities.
