Police Constable M. Vijay of the Coimbatore City Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) won the gold medal in the Room Search event at the State-level Anti-Sabotage Check Competition 2026 in Chennai, marking the team’s second gold medal at the ongoing competition.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) has won its second gold medal at the State-level Anti-Sabotage Check Competition 2026, with Police Constable M. Vijay securing first place in the Room Search event held on September 10 .
Aimed at enhancing the skills of police personnel in bomb detection and anti-sabotage operations, the competition, organised by the Tamil Nadu Police, is being held at R.C. Avadi in Chennai from September 8 to 11.
Teams from various city police units, ranges and specialised wings of the Tamil Nadu Police, including bomb detection and disposal personnel, are taking part in the State-level competition.
Representing the Coimbatore City Police BDDS team, PC 1657 M. Vijay scored 75 marks to secure first place and win the gold medal.
The Coimbatore City Police BDDS team had also won a gold medal in an event held the previous day, making Vijay’s achievement the team’s second gold medal at the ongoing competition.
City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan congratulated and appreciated M. Vijay for the accomplishment.
