An unidentified pedestrian, aged around 40, sustained a head injury after being hit by a motorcycle on Mettupalayam Road, while a cyclist suffered a leg injury after a car collided with his bicycle on Thadagam Road. Cases have been registered against motorcycle rider Jameesha (32) and car driver Muthu Rahul (31), with police investigating both incidents.
Coimbatore: A pedestrian, aged around 40 and yet to be identified, sustained a head injury after he was hit by a motorcycle on Mettupalayam Road near the Sakthi Vinayagar Temple at Kumarapuram bus stop.
The incident occurred when the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road. The impact threw him onto the road, leaving him seriously injured. He was rescued and taken to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, where he is undergoing intensive treatment.
The Coimbatore West Traffic Investigation Wing has registered a case against the motorcycle rider, Jameesha (32), a resident of Selva Puram North Housing Unit. Inspector Viswanathan is investigating the case.
In another accident, a 21-year-old cyclist sustained a fracture to his left leg after a car collided with his bicycle at K.N.G. Pudur on Thadagam Road.
The injured person, Ashwin (21), a resident of Ramarkovil Street, was cycling along Thadagam Road at around 6 p.m. when the accident occurred near Sri Ganapathy Granites.
According to the police, a car travelling in the opposite direction suddenly turned right and collided with Ashwin’s bicycle. He fell from the bicycle and sustained a fracture to his left leg. He was subsequently admitted to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
The Traffic Investigation Wing has registered a case against the car driver, Muthu Rahul (31), a resident of Kalappanaickenpalayam in Somayampalayam. Sub-Inspector Sarala is investigating the case.
In both incidents, cases have been registered under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
