Closing in on a definite century and beyond; an elephantine memory; a toothless mouth of wisdom and a huge heart filled with Ramayana, K.V. Srinivasan from Coimbatore, would surprise you at each second plainly with his keen observance on the world.

The hunger for knowledge is still young and running inside the 95-year-old’s heart and his knowledge on all things be it animals, proverbs or his first love, Ramayana would flabbergast people easily.
Forget credentials, old people themselves are achievers and pack a bundle of knowledge on various things, but only Srinivasan has gone one step further and has poured out all his wisdom of Ramayana in the form of a humongous 3700 page book, which is to be released on Wednesday.
The book titled, Thathva Sagara Ramayana is published by Baghavan Nama Publications of Rama Nama Bank.
A different and easily understood interpretation of the three Ramayanas written by Kamban, Valmiki and Tulsi, the book talks about various factors in life. The nine volume book does not just talk about Ramayana, but about the simplest of things and Srinivasan has been able to explain everything elaborately and scientifically.
Though the entire manuscript was made by his print-style handwriting, which he has managed astonishingly without blemish using his own hands, Srinivasan does not want to take credit for what he calls “a compilation” of 30 years.
In order to give life to his interest, he started collecting articles relating to Ramayana and even read books, and to keep his knowledge fresh, he started penning down his own interpretation of his collections for a year and completed it in 2008.
Being a retired banker by profession this silent work was possible only by his mantra for life, “Give thy ear and not thy tongue”. One would presume that he gave more than his ears, he gave Ramayana his heart and the result is a humongous book of nine volumes.
The handwritten manuscript initially gave him some satisfaction, but nothing compares to the joy and blemishless smile on his face while holding the printed version of his book. “I wrote it for me and never thought others could read it, but God’s thoughts are different and now it is in the form of a book.
S. Krishnaran, his son, who is also a retired banker, is more than proud of his father’s achievements. His daughter in law, who runs a private firm, is all thankful for men and God who made this event possible.
The book would be launched in a private function at Raman Temple in Ramnagar in the city on Wednesday.
