Even though the tradition of a tattooing has been practiced across the globe since at least Neolithic times with a simple purpose to express a significant aspect of their lives and personalities, it has become a rage and fashion statement in recent years.

“Following the similar purpose or more is the tradition of most of the Coimbatoreans who yearn to get a tattoo done. But a tattoo is incomplete if it lacks detailing and perfection, it is only when the art can clearly represent your thought that it is worth getting oneself inked for life” says Vaishnavi of Yara.

Yara at Trichy Road, is the favourite haunt of youngsters who wants to get tattooed. Yara is run by Vaishnava, the tattoo artist herself and the customer reviews are any indication, Yara stands popular for its artwork and detailed designing.

“I was born and brought up in Coimbatore, and was into painting and sketching as a kid, it was much later I realized I wanted to take up my artistic skills as a career, not in the fielding of painting but something more different. That’s when I took up a six months course in Delhi to learn about tattooing and to practice it as a profession.” Said Vaishnavi.

According to her every tattoo is an expression of one’s personality, so the inking can’t have mistakes because whatever is inked would stay for life; after all it’s the only thing you take to the grave with you.

Within a few months of establishment Yara had become a much preferred place for a tattoo, right from getting initials done to tattoos of their loved ones names, from a word they believe in to the god they follow, for covering up old tattoos to birthmarks, Yara specialises in all.

“I always wanted a tattoo done, I tried a lot of places in Coimbatore, but somehow the ambience didn’t appeal me, the artists’ work mostly felt incomplete, but when I came across Yara I was sure I came to right place. I got my first ever tattoo done with Vaishnavi followed by one more, in all my experience she was so calm and patient, she clearly understood what I wanted, she explained me the precautions I need to follow and what would possibly look good. The tattoo came out so well that when my dad saw it, the next week he fixed up an appointment to get one done"Says Sai, one of the customers of Yara.

" Even my friends from Bangalore have booked their slot for August to get the same Aghori Shiva Tattoo I have got done, they were too impressed with her detailing and fine artwork.” Sai says.
