ISKCON completes its 50 years of spreading the spirit of love and compassion

Hare Rama, Hare Krishna, just chanting this line enough brings happiness to the soul; this joyous slogan is the crux of the ISKCON Foundation that completed its 50 years of establishment.

Started in the YEAR 1966 by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda with an ultimate goal for all living beings to reawaken their love for God, or Lord Krishna, the “all-attractive one”, had its opening in Coimbatore in the year 2001.

Last Evening what got Coimbatoreans enlightened with was the five Sutras that bring happiness to the mind and soul. The Sutras or the hidden secrets were shared by H.G Gopal Das, a life coach and International speaker, along with being the core pillar of ISKCON.

The inspirational talk was held at Nani Palkhivala Auditorium, with a guest list including the who’s who of Coimbatore. Following its punctual regime, the show started exactly at six, with lighting of the diya. It later commenced with a humour coated life learning lesson on happiness by the speaker Shri Gopal Das.

Unlike spiritual talks that have a very sombre approach to teachings, the night was filled with laughs and giggles, as the swamiji spoke on what brings happiness and the secrets to attain it.

His radiant aura, timely marital jokes, thespian oratory skills and most importantly his sutra that leads to living a far more happy life made every single person in audience attentive and involved in his speech.

His 5 principles spoke about the five Cs that bring Happiness.

C1- Correct your equation – understand what makes you happy, happiness can’t be derived out of things, “things only have utility value not happiness value,” it is the state of mind that can change everything around you, to be happy one has to be happy from inside and not look for happiness in things that attract us.

C2-Change your expectation- Expectation is a potential of disaster because it associates another person and how can one control the others deed. Hence one needs to bring a change in oneself or deal with oneself than expect the other to reciprocate the way you want them to.

C3- Compare not- Comparison is the greatest killer of happiness, switch your comparison with gratitude, respect and acknowledge what you have , than what you don’t and others have.

C4- Contribute and share- the biggest happiness lies in sharing and contributing to others what you have and what others don’t have. It gives inner joy and makes you richer from inside.

C5- Connect with the divine- when you connect with power that illuminates life, you are guided to the path of how to live a life. Religion is not about ringing bells and performing yajnas , it’s about respecting and acknowledging the one above you.

The powerful 5cs were not just guides of being happy but were a guide how to lead a life ahead. And the inspiration concluded with a presentation on the future of ISKCON in Coimbatore.
