Men in blue is a synonym to cricket, but not anymore, with women’s cricket team performing with great calibre and winnings laurels for the country, testimony has proved that cricket is not just for men.

Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian cricket team and the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in ODIs was here in Coimbatore to endorse for a noble cause the 'Rally for Rivers' and to inaugurate Sparsh, a non-profitable organisation to help the necessitous.

The inauguration of Sparsh took place at The Ladies Club, Rs Puram. It is an initiative started by few philanthropic women who have been helping the underprivileged in their own ways and have now formed an organization to make a constructive effort towards the society.

The inauguration had an open question round with the star cricketer Mithali Raj. Her story of how she started playing cricket was a complete push given by her father, who believed in her talent.

She said every woman should identify herself with some skill that she is passionate about, marriage is a part of the living circle, but is not all to a woman, there is so much to her potential which she needs to identify and hone.

Apart from inspiring the audience with her answers, Mithali also spoke about the Mother Nature getting depleted and how each of us should make it a habit of our life to protect the environment and save the rivers that are a lifeline to our country.
