Srishti, an initiative by the craft council of Tamil Nadu brings to the city an exclusive exhibition of finest clothing and home decor from artisans all across the country.

Every year for the past 15 years, Shristi has been showcasing some of the most exclusive sarees like the Uppadas, Georgettes, Crepes,Benares, Chikankari work, Bengal Cottons, Kantha Work,Block Prints, Kutch Work, Bagru, Andhra Sarees and more. The limit is not just to sarees, the exhibition also showcases indo western tunics, dresses, kids wear, and gift item along with jewellery adorned with Precious Stones.

“Crafts council brings a huge platform for artists like us to showcase our works, we have been doing the bandhini work for generations, I take classes for shibori all across the world, but I never miss the Shristi exhibition, because the people of Coimbatore really appreciate art and that is why we keep coming back.” As quoted by KamalDeep.

There were various ceramic art effects out of which an eco friendly bong, that is a speaker with no wires, no batteries was a wonderful thing to experience and buy.

There were many new artists showcasing their work, like Deepa Thakur, Gujarat Hasthakala, the Design Forge, H2H, Tamara Studio 9696 and Palash Weaves who presented a new avenue of clothing and home decor that were stylish yet ethnic.

“I have been a part of Shristi for the past 13 years and every year I look forward to be in Coimbatore the most, for the simple reason that people here love wearing saris they still adorn this beautiful clothing with utmost grace and style.

I am from Kolkata, and it was my mother who started this boutique Deep Red, we specialise in hand printed saris and the blocks are designed by us, even though I showcase all around India, by far Coimbatore has been my best experience.” As quoted by Sharmita Murarka.

Shristi, every year has been surprising its buyers by bringing in designers from all across the country who work on handlooms that uplifts the weaker sections of the society.
