BizCity: The Phenomenon Called Excellence

Philosophers say Excellence is everywhere and in every human and everything, material or otherwise. Businessmen say Excellence is in Products & Services. Entrepreneurs say Excellence is in Business Processes & Results.

As Humans, we are multi-dimensional. Irrespective of what and where we are, we are a little of everything as above. While it is so, we believe we seek and deliver excellence.

We also believe our aspirations are abounding. While we may be yet to offer Excellence as Humans first and as stake holders next, we aspire for everything that is nothing but Excellence, in all spheres of life - right from personal relationships and interactions to products & services.

This is quite an idealist expectation. We need to understand life, whether business or personal, is a full circle in which we play our part as we deem necessary, and many a times not as expected. Size of the Circle may get enlarged as we grow along. Generally, we expect others to adjust to our requirements, more than our adjustment to reality. At this juncture, it is better to turn philosophical, which is quite very true - we get what we give.

One of the discussions with a World Leading MNC Supplier, he remarked ‘Despite education & intelligence, Indians have accepted average products. It is therefore, despite Indians working elsewhere offering World Class products & services, India could not do it for their Own make products.’

This is an undeniable fact, looking at Indians working around the World, across industries and in almost all leading Brands, and many at top levels.

If we can live happily with what we get, then do we really need World class? Given the shortening Product Life Cycles, this becomes a pertinent question going more by ever-changing choices than costs and benefits. It is generally understood, every MNC selling in India have a different quality product or service for Indian market, of-course in the name of Indianisation.

If we need to create a Global Market for our Indian products & services, we need to understand the Phenomenon Called Excellence right. We are what we are and we make & sell what we buy - not good enough. We do not have a choice, if we are to progress & prevent flight of Capital. To begin with we need to believe being excellent, then imbibe the qualities required to be Excellent from personal to professional setting in required processes.

If we can do this at our individual levels, it will be paying tribute to our Great visionary leader Dr.APJ - Aspire More and Achieve Most.
