A major burglary has been reported at the residence of an auditor on Oppanakara Street in Coimbatore, where unidentified persons allegedly broke into the house, which had been locked for several weeks, and stole silver pooja articles and other valuables weighing around 100 kg.
Coimbatore: A burglary at the locked residence of a retired auditor on Oppanakara Street in Coimbatore has caused concern in the area, as it is one of the city’s busy commercial stretches and generally witnesses heavy public movement.

Seshagiri, a retired auditor had reportedly locked up his house on Oppanakara street and left for Bengaluru about a month ago to stay with his son. He returned to Coimbatore on Friday morning and was shocked to find the lock on the front door broken.
On entering the house, Seshagiri found that the almirah had also been broken open. A subsequent inspection revealed that silver pooja articles weighing approximately 100 kg, along with other valuables, had been stolen from the almirah.
Seshagiri immediately lodged a complaint with the Variety Hall Road Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police personnel rushed to the residence and examined the scene. Fingerprint experts were also called in to collect forensic evidence that could help identify the suspects.
Further investigation is underway to identify the persons involved in the burglary and recover the stolen valuables.
